That would have made for such a different movie. Eventually, as we all know, Jada Pinkett Smith was cast as Niobe for the Matrix Sequels and the Enter the Matrix video game. I wonder what the movies would have been like, though.

i also heard Sean Connery was offered the role of Morpheus, but he turned it down! He then saw the movie do well – and took the role in league of extraordinary gentlemen because he said he didnt want to miss out on a blockbuster again – this was in an interview.
can you imagine that!! james bond as morpheus! hahaha
Even more interesting, can you imagine Sean Connery wielding a sword or fighting Keanu in a dojo.
I believe it was The Architect that he was offered, you can see they tried to get someone who likes like him. Apprently he didnt understand the script so passed.
