Matrix NFT Project coming from Warner Bros and Nifty’s

The Matrix NFTs

In what seemed like only a matter of time to us, The Matrix is entering the world of NFTs starting on November 30 in a partnership with Nifty’s, Inc. According to an article in The Hollywood Reporter, the non-fungible tokens are inspired by the upcoming film The Matrix Resurrections, but are not from the movies at all.

There will be 100,000 avatars, which will be available for $50 each when the project launches on November 30. The avatars will represent characters that live inside of The Matrix. Then, on December 1, all buyers will be presented with a choice. Take the “blue pill” and keep your avatar in the Matrix, or take the “red pill” and transform your character into a resistance fighter. In the months that follow, there will be other challenges and options, so you can upgrade your avatar, or earn new NFTs.

“We really think that theme, of digital identity, and choice, and owning that identity, resonates with the themes in The Matrix franchise,” says Jeff Marsilio, CEO and co-founder of Nifty’s. “It was an opportunity to take what was already a grassroots movement with the NFT avatar, and take it further mainstream.”

“Given that enthusiasm [for the franchise], and the very nature of what the Matrix story and settings are about, an NFT program seemed perfect,” Pam Lifford, president of Warner Bros. Consumer Products adds.

  1. I mean. Why? Have they incorporated these NFTs across unity and unreal, so we can use them as actual avatars in games? What’s the point of this? I’m pretty sure you can already use Matrix characters in VRChat and mods for Beatsaber, for free with a little know how.
