The Matrix Reboots in 2014 with Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Jaden Smith

Warner Brothers Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures have teamed up to return us to the world of The Matrix in 2014.  To appeal to a broader audience, the story is being simplified and re-written as a PG-13 film, that could potentially become a Trilogy depending on how the first does.  One things for sure, the sequels are going to be given a completely different storyline that actually continues where the first one left off.

They’re relaunching the Matrix brand with a younger audience in mind, casting Justin Bieber in the role of Neo, Selena Gomez as Trinity, and Jaden Smith as Morpheus.  The real-life friendships between the three of them is one reason why they picked them to star in the films.

Also: this isn’t a musical, so they won’t be singing on screen.  That doesn’t mean they won’t be part of the soundtrack, though.  There’s no word on who is going to direct the film, nor who wrote it.  We do know that it is shooting this summer for a 2014 release, however.

Word is that Will Smith encouraged his son Jaden to take the role, having himself given up the role of Neo in the original Matrix trilogy.

Prepare for an onslaught of “Beliebers,” Matrix Fans.
