EPSIODE 2 SCAVENGER

BY ROBERT ‘CHOI’ BOEHM

INT. WAREHOUSE NIGHT

We are shown a well lit warehouse with numerous import cars and greeted with thumping techno music. The camera switches to Arbiter's 3000GT he is talking on his phone with Phase

ARBITER
Do you have the waypoints programmed into the computer yet?

PHASE (V.O.)
Yea.

ARBITER
Good, it looks like were about to start.

The camera pans to look though the windshield showing Luc in the center of the warehouse. The camera zooms in on Luc, transferring through the windshield.

LUC
Racers, lets get into position.

The cars start up and line up in front of the four doors on the northern side of the warehouse. There are eight cars in all, Arbiter lines up behind Satin's MR-2 Spyder. Vincent in his silver Porsche 911 GT-2 is to his right. Luc walks over in-between the second and third door and grabs a control switch.

LUC
Are we ready?

The cars rev their engines as Luc pushes a button on the control and all four doors rise simultaneously. The cars scramble out in every which direction.

EXT. CITY STREETS

Satin bolts straight out the door and through a back alleyway. Vincent turns left as does Arbiter and a blue Supra. The three cars race down the street neck and neck. At the first intersection the Vincent turns right and speeds away.

PHASE (V.O.)
What happened to your target?

ARBITER
Shut your whole Phase. I’m on top of it.

At the next intersection the two cars turn right. Arbiter, having the inside turn gains a slight advantage. Coming up to the next intersection Vincent speeds across their path, barely missing Arbiter’s bumper, and forcing the Supra to slam on his brakes, compensating with a left turn and following Vincent. Further down the road Arbiter makes a left turn and shortly there after enters a gas station pulling up to the pump, quickly getting out and snagging a red tag from the pump.

WOMAN (V.O.)
Welcome to CityGas pump 1. Please pay before fueling.

Arbiter quickly gets back into his car and speeds away. You can see behind him Vincent and the Supra pulling up to the pumps as he leaves the station. Continuing to race through town, turning and swerving through light traffic. Then out of nowhere a blue Corvette bolts out of an alley causing Arbiter to hit his brakes. The corvette drifts right in front of his face and accelerates past him heading for the gas station.

PHASE (V.O.)
Make a left, down that alley.

Arbiter turns down the alley just as Vincent and the Supra speed behind him and continue down the street. Arbiter rips though the alleyway, almost clipping the wall around a turn. As he exits the alleyway there is a fast food joint, which he pulls into and screeches to a halt at the ordering speaker.

MAN (V.O.)
Welcome to…

Vincent pulls up behind Arbiter and revs his engine; the Supra is nowhere to be found.

ARBITER
I need a number 4.

MAN (V.O.)
First W…

Arbiter pulls around to the first window, waiting impatiently. The server opens the window and hand him a bag.

MAN
That will be…

Arbiter lights up his tires and pulls away, checking the bag and finding an orange ticket inside. Arbiter continues through the city drifting around a couple of turns then a green Camaro drifts out of a turn and almost broad sides him. The two race down the street. The Camaro bashes up against Arbiter and almost pushes him into an oncoming car. Arbiter quickly swerves around the car then rams back into the Camaro. The camaro swerves all the road and hits a light post head on. As the Camaro hits the light post the camera slows down and travels in a semi circle horizontal around the front of the Camaro. All of the windows explode of the car. The light post is knocked over and smashes into a tree, then tumbles down to the ground. The camera comes to a stop looking through the passenger’s side window where we see the driver laying up against the wheel coughing up blood. The camera returns to the 3000GT racing through the streets.

PHASE (V.O.)
Damn, I sure hope nobody was around to see that.

Back to the Camero, We see the driver, He starts to screen as he turns into an agent. The agent steps out of the car, dusts himself off, and puts his hand up to his earpeice.

We see the 3000GT again. Arbiters standing at a phone booth, ripping a green tag off of the side of the booth.

PHASE (V.O.)
That’s a good line Arbiter; I can take you out from there.

Arbiter, gets back in the 3000GT

ARBITER
I’m fine Phase, besides we’ve got company.

Vincent’s Porsche and two other cars are racing towards Arbiter. Arbiter pulls away making a His way to I-918. As Arbiter enters the interstate (deserted except for a car or two) he punches his nitro and races ahead. Just as his spray runs out, Satin flies off from a building top and lands right beside Arbiter, and hits her nitro, quickly pulling away from Arbiter getting a good ten second lead. As Arbiter passes an entrance ramp, there is a police car speeding up the ramp and pulls up right behind Arbiter. Just ahead we can see Satin exit the interstate. Arbiter follows her down to the city streets. The road is short and ends in a T-intersection. All that is straight ahead is a small alleyway, but it is too narrow for a car. As Satin approaches the wall, she quickly cuts her wheel to the left and pops her car up on two wheels squeezing through the alleyway.

PHASE (V.O.)
How the…?

ARBITER
Phase, a little help

PHASE (V.O.)
What exactly would you like for me to do?

ARBITER
Can’t you spawn an air canon under my right side?

PHASE (V.O)
You going too fast, I can get a fix on your position.

Arbiter slams on his brakes and cuts his wheel; skidding to a stop just before the wall. Sitting parallel to it.

PHASE
I got it.

The cop car T-bone’s the 3000GT just as the air cannon goes off, flipping the 3000GT one and a quarter times into the wall, coming to a rest on it’s side. The sunroof shattered leaving an all too convenient exit down the alleyway.

PHASE
Arbiter, I hope you can still stand. The cop’s dead, but you’ve got agents on their way.

Arbiter crawls out of the sunroof, limps down the alleyway, slowly increasing his speed. We can hear sirens in the distance.

ARBITER
I sure hope you’ve got something nice for me at the end of this ally.

As Arbiter approaches the end of the alley another 3000GT materializes a few inches above the ground, then drops, slightly bouncing as hit hits the ground. The drivers’ door is open and the engine running.

ARBITER
Phase, you’ve redeemed your self.

Arbiter hops in the car and speeds away. The camera motions up to a third floor apartment on the corner of the alley.

INT APPARTMENT.

In the room there is a man watching television (A car chase). The phone is ringing, he answers it and over hears the conversation with Phase and Arbiter.

PHASE (V.O.)
Have enough fun yet.

ARBITER (V.O.)
Get me the hell out of here.

The man notices the 3000GT out the window and immediately morphs into an agent. The agent looks out the window, and then holds his hand up to his earpiece. We then rejoin the action with the 3000GT.

EXT. CITY STREETS.

PHASE (V.O.)
The phone back at the delta checkpoint is as good as your gona get.

ARBITER
Good, lead the way.

INT. CONTROL ROOM (NOSTRADAMUS)

Phase punching away at keyboards and touching screens.

PHASE
Turn right here.

EXT. CITY STREETS

Arbiter drifts right around a turn and accelerates.

PHASE (V.O.)
You can punch your NOS for a while.

Just as Arbiter does, a black Lincoln comes out from an intersection and clips his back bumper, he spins out of control, slamming into a wall. The Lincoln slams through a mailbox and into a show room window.

PHASE (V.O.)
No! (But it’s too late)

Arbiter lies in his car nearly unconscious. An agent gets out of the Lincoln and dusts him self off and begins walking toward Arbiter. A black Civic EX races up next to the wrecked 3000GT pulling a 180 and stopping parallel to it. The driver immediately starts shooting at the agent through his window. The passengers’ side door opens a man steps out and opens the drivers’ side door of the 3000GT.

ARBITER
Where the fuck have you been?

CARNAN
Get in.

Carnan pulls Arbiter out of his car and puts him in the back seat. The driver out of ammo tosses his gun aside. Carnan pulls out two Uzi’s from his coat and fires them at the agent as he gets in the Civic. The Civic pulls away as the Lincoln backs out of the window and chases after them. Leaving the first agent behind.

TACHYON (Driver)
You okay Arbiter?

ARBITER
I’ve been worse.

CARNAN
Shit, I’d hate to see that.

The Civic races through the city streets, with the Lincoln gaining ground with every turn. There are two agents in the Lincoln, one of them is firing his gun at the Civic. In the road a head of them you see the blue Supra coming at them. Tachyon switches lanes, driving right at the Supra. We see the driver in the Supra just before he changes into an agent. The Lincoln is right behind the Civic, and slightly pushing at its bumper. At the last moment, Tachyon swerves out of the way; the Supra and Lincoln hit head on. Carnan leans out of the window and starts firing both Uzi’s at the Supra. An agent flies out of the Lincoln windshield and hits the Supra. The gas tank of the Supra ignites flipping the Supra on to the Lincoln. Carnan gets back in the car.

CARNAN
Chicken.

Tachyon grins and keeps on driving. The Civic makes one final turn and stops at the phone booth. We hear the phone ringing. All three men step out of the car. Arbiter answers the phone first and dematerializes. The camera starts to pull away as Tachyon hangs up the phone. The camera pans up at the moon as we hear the sounds of Carnan and Tachyon dematerialize. The camera zooms in on the moon until the screen is completely white.

To Be Continued.
