High School Musical’s Zac Efron left the set of the film’s sequel for a day when he was called back for another audition. He would possibly star in the lead role of The Wachowski brothers’ adaptation of Speed Racer, the live-action adaptation of the Japanese cartoon series.
Zac, 19, had been granted permission by Disney to leave the High School Musical 2 set for a day so that he could attend the callback.
Speed Racer is scheduled for a May 23, 2008 release.
Zac will be appearing in the new film version of Hairspray with John Travolta, in theaters June 20.
