The Matrix 4 and 5 rumor: Debunked

Well, put me on the list under those that are very disappointed that it didn’t turn out to be true: Keanu Reeves has been in London, but did not give a speech there.

Reeve’s rep told The Playlist that “none of it is true…he did not speak nor get an award from the London International School of Performing Arts.”

Keanu Reeve’s currently gearing up for the 3D samurai tale 47 Ronin, which will be going in front of cameras this year and is slated for a November 21, 2012 release.

Personally, I wanted it to be true.  I want more adventures in The Matrix and want to see the series brought back in a big way.

  1. Since Revolutions was a definite ending to the saga, any further movies would probably have to be based in the six-month period between 1 & 2. Maybe they could deal with Neo exploring his powers and the rise of The Kid.

I’d actually like to see an animated series set within that period (and not necessarily anime).

    • That sounds interesting. (Side note: Anime is merely animation created in Japan. Here in the U.S. we tend to jumble it all together, but over there, it’s as separated as our different genres from Westerns to Science Fiction, from Children to Adult ratings.)

That said, I’d love to see the creative team behind Batman: The Animated Series do the character and artistic designs.

    • I don’t think there was anything definite about the ending in the 3rd Matrix… There’s peace but no lasting peace can exist so long as humans are still enslaved and humans are allowed to still liberate those inside. This is why the Architect asks the Oracle “How long do you expect this peace to last?”… it’s implied that a resurrection of the conflict will take place. They essentially came to a cease fire, but have done nothing to resolve that actual overall conflict that exists between humans and machines.

  2. The ending was definite… because the matrix is not about one side winning over the other, it is about finding the peace, harmony and unity between the two sides, for one could not exist without the other

and about ever lasting peace… nothing ever lasts forever

    • That’s just it, though. One CAN exist without the other. We can exist without the machines, as proven by the people living in Zion. (Though they try to make the point that they need machines to survive, that doesn’t mean the machines must be sentient. All it means is that they need machines.) The sentient machines need us, we don’t need them.

      • The sentient computers only need us because we blocked off the sunlight.

If we remove the sunlight blockade, machines and humans can theoretically live in peace.

        • Exactly. Which is something that could feed the plot of a sequel. Creation of a technology that can clean the sky.

  3. If become true, I would like to watch this movie sequel in 3D…. maybe it is very very very very very very very very very very very cool
