Fan Film: Matrix.Butterfly

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

I love it when fans get together to create more for us to enjoy.  This one is a live action version of a comic by Dave Gibbons, called Butterfly.  It features very impressive effects at the beginning.  Here’s what “Agent Shepherd” posted in the forum:

Film is based on ‘Butterfly’ comics by Dave Gibbons, was published on official ‘Matrix’ Trilogy web page. Leading her, Zion resident named ‘Crow’, persecuted by agents White, Cooper and Carpenter is trying to escape from the Matrix. The only one no phone line intact lies in dojo, owned by mysterious Huang Long…

Comics text (presented in the film by subtitles) is famous Chinese Chuang Tzu butterfly dream parable.

The Matrix Fugitive – MFN Fan Film Retrospective – Part 2

Friday, August 20th, 2010

It was a couple of years later when we finally had time to pick The Matrix Fugitive back up.  One of the primary agents from the first version had entered the military at this point, and things were pretty different.  We now had a camera that could shoot in widescreen.  I also had a deadline for school, plus a mandate that all footage be new.  My friend Tony and I decided to take a new route, one that took the best idea from the original, and made him into the most powerful of the agents.. the final one.  Not only would he be battling the main character the entire time, but we’d use a real sword and he would be jumping place to place as well.  We also shot the ending of the film as part of this round.

There are some shots in the trailer where you can see the trampoline we used to achieve some of the shots that we wanted.  That will be removed when / if I can get the footage all captured again and put the story together into the final version of the film.

The Matrix Fugitive – MFN Fan Film Retrospective – Part 1

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Many of you know a bit about The Matrix Fugitive.  It was a project that I started while I was in school learning about film production.  There are two very distinct versions of this film as it went through a few different variations.  It started out as a serious fan film, in concept, and I even had an idea for it that involved a spot with many doors, and each door would open up to a different part of the Matrix, or even a different Matrix.  That concept lead to some pretty hilarious ideas where the main character would go through a door to find Back to the Future‘s Biff Tannen waxing his car, and one that we actually filmed was a door that opened up a path to Narnia.  That was also an idea that was used in The Matrix Reloaded, which was really funny to me.

The Matrix in LEGO

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Wow, this is awesome. Sorry I didn’t post this a bit sooner, but I’ve been busy as of late. Work is frantic at the moment.

This makes me want a Lego Matrix video game in the same vein as Lego Star Wars, Lego Batman and Lego Indiana Jones.
